Even if you live in a place for a while, like over a decade, you can still surprise yourself with unexplored terrain, and the world is new again. And even if you have been to a place before, bringing someone who’s never been there is a rediscovery through another’s eyes.  But what are we but apertures through which the universe looks at itself?

This is the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, said to be a sacred place, promoting peace, respect, and harmony. A dear friend brought me here years ago. The day of this recent visit we nearly ran out of gas on the way, and the stupa was in a state of unpacking.  The fires this summer had resulted in an emergency evacuation, but nothing at the center was burned. I sat and felt thankful.
