A couple of weeks ago we went out in the pouring rain on a Friday evening to a reading for Hue & Cry Journal. We tromped through puddles in front of the strip club on Courtenay Place and up some stairs behind a bar, and happily emerged in the rad Six Barrel Soda Co. It is a tiny gem, packed with people and cool things in every corner. They make their own soda syrups, which are then added to delicious, and potent, cocktails.
As the rain pressed in writers Alison Glenny, Sarah Jane Barnett, and Amy Brown read their work, and I struggled to hear from the back of the room, enjoying the sights and the syrup.
