I love getting older.  With the changing calendar year and my own birthday so close together, I think back over all the events, places, people, experiences that filled the past year, and feel very happy indeed. Every year I’m astounded at the pace the days fly by, and with how much can change. This was my first summer birthday, and any N. hemisphere January/February baby, especially in cold weather areas, can attest that it can be a dreary time weather-wise. An urban hike (one of the best things in the world) was in order, powered by a rocking breakfast from the best local eatery. The sun was out, the wind was blasting away, Papa Moai was standing steady, and Island Bay was shining. This year I was surrounded by new friends, and my best friend. Lucky. Feeling very lucky.signs02walkerMaranuifoodup on itwill and MoaicementcardWill's cakeReading :: This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz, so so so good

Sounds like a perfectly wonderful day! Happy belated! And a secret cake recipe? That man is talented!
