Recently I was browsing a used bookshop and stumbled upon a reprint of a WWII-era book about doing more with less. It reminded me of the wonderful saying, “Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without.”

This morning I was laying in bed thinking about how nice it would be to have one of those neck pillows to take with me on my upcoming 13+hour plane ride and über layover. Then I saw the ripped pillow in the top of the closet waiting to be thrown away, and boom! I realized I should make one. It’s not gorgeous, but it cost $0, used things on their way to the garbage, and it is totally functional. Here are some outtakes with my very serious assistants.

Will: Neck comfort is a deadly serious issue, which is why I’m devoting all of my time and materials– quite literally the shirt off my back– to the construction of this pillow.

    Cat: Mrow.
